Suzanne Tick
An extensive background in textile and floorcovering design, coupled with a
formal weaving education, has given Suzanne Tick great technical strength to
support her artistic direction.
Ms. Tick, currently also designing for KnollTextiles and a partner with
Terry Mowers in their own specialized woven carpet company, Tuva Looms, has
received numerous awards and participated in several museum exhibitions.
In 2003 she was nominated as one of three finalists in product design
category for the Cooper Hewitt National Design Awards. Three of her designs
were included in the 2002 exhibition at the Denver Art Museum called “U.S.
Design from 1975-2000.” One of Ms. Tick's experimental woven projects, which
used an industrial steel fiber from Japan, was included in a 1998 show at
the Museum of Modern Art called “Structure and Surface: Contemporary
Japanese Textiles.”
Cited in 2001 by the New York Times as an up-and-coming design talent, Ms.
Tick has been profiled in Azure, the Chicago Tribune and Design Times and
her work is frequently seen in magazines and newspapers nationally.
She is a graduate of the University of Iowa’s School of Art and History and
holds an associate degree in Applied Arts from the Fashion Institute of
Technology. Mr. Mowers holds a B.S. in marketing from Syracuse University
